Surplus Coatings was founded in 1994 as a recycler of off specification and manufacturers overruns of powder coating. In 1995 the founders of Surplus Coatings recruited Dwayne Behrens as CEO. Under the guidance of Behrens, before recycling was popular, Surplus Coatings began developing innovative uses for the material.
